What do I do if my A/C is blowing warm air?

Check your thermostat setting, check your breaker and then check your filters. If problem still persists, call to schedule our service technician for a full diagnostic inspection.

What exactly is the equipment outside?

The equipment located outside your home is either the air conditioner, heat pump or package unit.

What is the equipment in my attic?

The equipment located in the attic of your home is either your furnace or air handler.

How often should I change my filters?

We recommend changing your filters every month to reduce failures and to optimize equipment performance.

What do I do if I smell gas?

Call the fire department if the odor is very strong or if illness occurs (nausea, headache and/or dizziness and respiratory distress). Virginia Natural Gas can be contacted on their 24 hour emergency line at 877-572-3342. Call Kellam Mechanical for repairs or if a faint odor is detected. Be safe and install a carbon monoxide detector.

What is refrigerant?

A chemical that produces a refrigerating effect while expanding and vaporizing. Most residential air conditioning systems contain R-22 or R-410 refrigerant. R-22 and R-410 are regulated by international controls under the Environmental Protection Agency.
Note: R-22 will no longer be produced after the year 2010 which will increase costs due to limited availability. Howeowner's with equipement can schedule a consult with one of our experts to discuss upgrading to high efficiency equipment.
